在華人茶文化的記憶中,最細膩、最綿長的香氣,莫過於桂花。自古以來,桂花與茶便相互為伴,隨著山間霧氣綻放芬芳。台灣百年桂花林,多隱身於老茶山之中。昔日南港、石碇、深坑桂樹遍野,每年採收數千斤新花,運至大稻埕,與茶共窨,成就一代花茶香韻。然時代更迭,製茶技術轉向,進口乾花大量湧入,桂花窨茶的榮景,悄然沉寂於近三十年間的轉折裡。
我們輾轉尋訪,終在南投名間找到理想的花材。以手工採摘的金桂入料,花形細緻,香氣純淨,不以濃烈取勝,而以溫婉細膩見長。與正欉鐵觀音共同研磨,經長時萃香,花香入茶,彼此交融。鐵觀音茶體厚實甘潤,帶有獨特焙香,與金桂的淡雅甜香互為表裡,香不壓茶,茶亦成花。
桂花之香,甜而不艷,細而不弱。它如島嶼茶山記憶的幽微迴音,蘊含歷史的榮枯與茶人的執著匠心。桂花鐵觀音,是一份致敬過往的風味,也是一款講究至今的細緻演繹。
Crafted upon a foundation of pure tea leaves, the COTE Floral Tea series infuses Taiwan’s most iconic aromatic element—floral fragrance—into each creation, offering a deeper, more layered tasting experience. By selecting premium local botanicals and preserving their natural essence, we slowly grind them together with whole-leaf teas for 48 hours, allowing the flavors of tea and flower to fully integrate. This fusion is then sealed within cocoa butter, transforming traditional floral tea into a delicately edible form.
Among the many fragrances woven into the fabric of Chinese tea culture, none is more refined or lingering than osmanthus. For centuries, osmanthus has bloomed beside tea in the mountain mists. In Taiwan, century-old groves still stand on the slopes of historic tea mountains. Once, the hills of Nangang, Shiding, and Shenkeng were covered in golden blossoms, harvested by the thousands of kilograms each season and brought to Dadaocheng, where they were layered with tea leaves to craft floral-scented teas that defined an era. Yet over the past three decades, this tradition has quietly faded, as tea production shifted, modern processing emerged, and inexpensive imported flowers flooded the market.
After a long search, we found the ideal blossoms in Mingjian, Nantou. These handpicked golden osmanthus flowers are delicately formed and naturally fragrant—never overpowering, but gentle and precise. We slowly grind them with authentic Tieguanyin, allowing the floral essence to infuse the tea during extended processing. The result is a harmonious marriage: the roasted, full-bodied smoothness of Tieguanyin enveloped by the graceful sweetness of osmanthus, where neither scent nor flavor overshadows the other.
The aroma of osmanthus is sweet but never cloying, subtle yet persistent. It lingers like a quiet echo of the mountains, carrying the rise and fall of Taiwan’s tea legacy and the spirit of craftsmanship passed down through generations. Osmanthus Tieguanyin is both a tribute to a bygone era and a refined interpretation for the present.
